To Infinity and Beyond

There was never a doubt in our minds that Cooper would choose a Toy Story theme for his birthday. The kids loves everything Toy Story, but then again who doesn't. We all were especially excited when the new movie coincided with Cooper's 3rd birthday. So, we invited several friends and their families to view the movie with us.

After the movie we headed back to our house for what pizza, cake and presents. The kids had a blast playing in the yard, eating cake and watching Coop open his presents. It was so nice to have so many friends and family there to share his big day.

I think it's noteworthy to point out that our birthday boy was even sporting a Toy Story bandaid for the party. You gotta stick with the theme, right?

Hang In There

It seems like it's been forever since I've been on the Internet let alone posted something on the blog. After receiving 2 new modems, neither of which were the correct piece of equipment and speaking with 20+ people from Windstream (no lie) - we finally received a service call out of the blue on a Sunday afternoon.
It turns out that a short 10 minute thunderstorm a few weeks ago fried my modem and my network card. The modem has now been replaced but I still need to replace the network card.
So, hang in there and please, please check back this week. I have so many things to post - we've been so busy and done so many fun things in the past few weeks.
See you soon!

It's Over Already....McKenna's Last Day of Kindergarten

Last day of Kindergarten 2010

Well, there I go blinking my eyes again. Everyone remembers (with great agony, I'm sure) the emotional mess I was this time last year as I anticipated McKenna starting school. All that and now it's over.

First day of Kindergarten

She's grown in more ways than just looks this year :
~McKenna had a great first year of school. She earned good grades, made lots of new friends, enjoyed her teachers and became even more independent.
~As we close the school year McKenna is reading on a 2nd-3rd grade level. She moved to chapter books around Christmas time and since then we've enjoyed numerous Juney B. Jones books and some Judy Moody.
~Though she's a great reader, McKenna claims math is her favorite subject. Hearing that both makes me proud and makes me want to throw up at the same time. I'm absolutely terrible at math so I sure hope her father can help her with her homework.

~Next year we are planning to conquer handwriting! Unless of course, she plans to become a doctor someday. In that case, her handwriting in right on.

We are certainly looking forward to the summer. McKenna is excited to have the chance to sleep in a couple of days a week. Two to three days a week she will attend summer camp at the daycare. I am truly looking forward to spending time with the kids this summer. This will be my first full summer working part time and so I fully intend to pack this summer and my time with McKenna full of fun.
