Dear McKenna and Kinley,
I never had the opportunity to have a sister so I hope I get this right. There is something I want you both to know : she really does love you.
McKenna, I know right now that your feelings are often hurt in the instance when Kinley snuggles up to Cooper or wants to sit beside him at dinner, etc. So many times my heart has broken a little when I've heard you say, "She doesn't like me." The truth is that she idolizes you and she is watching every move you make and listening to every single word that comes out of your mouth. She wants to be like you in every way possible and I doubt that will change any time soon. I love the way that she insists that she has to practice dance with you almost as much as I love you for including her in your practice time. I hope, like you so desperately do, that dance will be "your thing together." Kinley doesn't have the ability to recognize or express it yet but the way you care for her, help her, include her and love her is making a lasting impression on her.
Kinley, some day there will come a time when you will probably say, "She doesn't even like me," as McKenna dashes off here and there with her friends. There will be many times when you are left behind as the girls get older. Just know that McKenna loves you so much and she always has. She has doted on you and been my biggest helper since before you were born. She has taught you so many things and is always there for you when you are upset. I doubt that will ever change so you should know you can always go to her when you need a listening ear. She fixes you food, shares her toys and her dolls, gets you dressed and plays with you when you will let her. You should know that not everyone has a sister as awesome as yours. Not even close.
I pray that you girls will always have a special bond, the kind that I hear about but will never fully understand. And always remember, no matter what happens in your lives, she really does love you.
Love,
Mom
