Our Weekend

I think we had the best of both worlds this weekend.  One day we were super busy and hardly home.  The next we spent mostly tucked inside, sharing time together.
Saturday was the annual Magical Memories Wish Kid Party.  This was the third year that McKenna and I have helped with crafts.  It was our first year being in charge of crafts so it meant a lot more involvement on our end and we loved it.  Mimi was there and Melissa, too.  That meant we shared the day with some of our favorite people.
I posted this picture on Facebook yesterday but wanted to include it on the blog too.  While I love seeing so many kids that I have taken care of come enjoy the holiday party, what I really love is seeing McKenna interact with them.  She has such a heart for service and for kids.  She's so, so good with them and I love to just observe her and listen as she talks to them.  She has such a way of making everyone feel special.
We were home only a short time before we headed downtown with our family to celebrate our collective winter birthdays Sweet Frog style.   This was a virgin Sweet Frog experience for Mimi, Pappy, Shane, Kyle and Cady.  BUT, I think we all had a good time and learned a lot about what NOT to mix in your fro yo!  Ahem. Shane.  Lol!
This morning we had a wonderful time a church.  I had a chance to listen while the kids practiced their songs for choir.   Hearing those sweet voices sing a happy birthday Jesus song just about melted my heart.  I can't wait to watch them perform Christmas Eve.   We came home and tucked in while we waited for the snow.  Kinley enjoyed a nap in her current spot on her bedroom floor.  She has lately refused to sleep in her crib.  A new mattress is on our short list of things a to do but obviously it hasn't happened yet.   As I recall, each of the kids has survived a phase on the floor so I'm happy she will not suffer any ill effects!
After I made a quick (suicide) run to Walmart - think Sunday, few weeks before Christmas, hours before snow storm.   Yeah.  It was ugly.  But I digress. While Kinley slumbered we got a good game of Monopoly going.  Boys against girls seems to be the name of the game around here.   The last time we played McKenna and I got our butts kicked.  We've learned not to be so tight with our money.  That way the boys can't buy all the property.  We won today.
Everyone got to stay up a little later as we anticipate/hope for a school delay tomorrow.   I hope the weather clears ip some because this mama has a lot of Christmas shopping that still needs to be done!
