Cooper has been saying for a year or more that he wanted to go to Legoland. Once the advertisements started rolling in about the opening of Legoland Hotel he started talking about going there for his birthday. Again referencing the fact that we were relatively fresh off a trip to Disney World, and besides, who goes to Legoland for their birthday, I was able to keep this huge secret for a few months!
The rooms were amazing, with a sectioned off "kids area" with space for THREE kids! That's a big deal when you travel as a family of 5!
The lobby contained a giant lego pit where the kids (and adults) could spend time building. I'm pretty sure we could use this type of lego storage at our house!
There was also a huge castle play house and of course a very fun swimming pool complete with floating Legos
The Legoland Park was smaller than we had envisioned but it was SO. MUCH. FUN. We met Emmit from the Lego movie. Sadly, Wild Style was getting her hair done that day and we didn't get to have a picture with her.
Earl won Kinley this giant minion who she promptly named, "Kevin. Kevin Love." He should not be confused with the actual Kevin Love who plays in the NBA.
One part of the park that we really loved was the educational center (for lack of a better word) where the kids could build and race cars, build towers that could withstand earthquakes and generally just use their brains!
There was more for Kinley to do at Legoland. Here she is with Daddy on the Duplo tractors.
On our second day we rode a few rides and then headed straight for the water park. It was very hot during our Legoland stay and this was the perfect remedy. We relaxed in the wave pool and spent time on the waterslides and the splash park which should be renamed the drench park. Water crashed down on you constantly!
Kinley and I chilled a little on lounge chairs but it was Daddy who succeeded in getting her a much needed nap.
Suffice to say that after four days of amusement parks we were all needing a nap!
We were all sad for our quick trip to Florida to come to an end. It was the get away that we needed to end the school year on a high note and kick off summer.
Kenna, Cooper and Kinley,
I hope you had an awesome time on our trip. We love you so much and there is nothing we enjoy more than traveling with you and experiencing all these different places with you. You have all become excellent travelers over the past few years, knowing what to expect and how to navigate the airport, hotels and crowds almost as well as we do. Most importantly, I hope you are learning the value to family time together, working as a team and above all making memories. Daddy and I look forward to many, many more adventures and bucket list trips with all of you.
Love, Mom
