Fun, Food and Fantasy...Knoebel's 2013

When an opportunity presents itself, you've got to take it!   That's what we did on Saturday afternoon.   Earl had to go into work for 8 hours so we decided to meet up after his shift and take the kids to Knoebels.  For some reason we haven't been very good about making the trip to the park in recent years.  Last summer we managed a short trip with the Dugan's but besides that we have not taken advantage of the park being so close.  Until yesterday!

McKenna loves pandas and spotted this one as soon as we entered the park.   She was so happy that I agreed to take her picture.

Kinley was a bit crabby so we headed straight for the little kiddie rides.   She shared a boat ride and a few other attractions with McKenna and Cooper.  I'm so glad that they are still happy to indulge her and ride some of the small rides.

We had a bite to eat....hotdogs and pierogies, of course, then Earl and the big kids took a ride on the  log flume.   McKenna is a seasoned "Splash Mountain" rider but wasn't too excited about the little log flume.  I'm happy to report she survived.

I have a feeling that Cooper will be our thrill rider.   I love this picture of him laughing at the bottom of the log ride.

Immediately after the log flume, Coop and I headed over the ride the Phoenix roller coaster.  This was his first experience on a regular sized roller coaster.   He was a little nervous but luckily there was no line and we walked right on, leaving little time for nerves.   Suffice to say, he screamed the entire time (as did I) but we were both smiles as the ride ended.   I thought for sure that Earl didn't have a chance of getting him back on during this trip but Cooper proved me wrong.   He came off the ride saying he loved it and wanted to go again.   And so he did!

McKenna and Kinley played the part well but I'm fairly certain this is as close as they will come to the Phoenix for quite a while.

Kinley's mood lifted considerably after dinner and she enjoyed a little dancing when we walked by the player piano.

Oh, and a little Italian Water Ice goes a long way toward a good mood, too!

For the latter part of the evening the big kids ran back and forth between the swings and the whip.    It was an amazing night as there were virtually no lines and the weather was mild.

A short picture break and some funnel cake and a train ride later and we were headed for home.    We were all pretty beat but our smiles could not be contained.   It was one of those nights when everything just seems to fall into place and everyone enjoys time together.     I think we will do a better job of making time for Knoebel's this summer given the fun we had last night.
