We have officially entered the part of the summer where we try desperately to savor every last minute that we have left together. We spent some time late last week cleaning out closets, trying on fall clothes from last year and buying school supplies. That meant that this week could be devoted to FUN!
On Monday we spent some time at the splash park in Sunbury. Early on in the morning we worried that the weather would ruin our plans. There were some clouds around but for the most part it was warm and sunny. The park was a delightful surprise for McKenna and Cooper, too. They had much more fun than they anticipated. We will most certainly be returning there next summer.
Yesterday we had lunch at Mimi and Pappy's and spent the afternoon poolside. Today we headed back over to Mimi and Pappy's to finish up preparing corn for the freezer. In all we did 8 dozen which has us all well stocked for the fall and winter months.
For lunch we treated ourselves to Wendy's. I was craving a quiet meal with the kids that I didn't have to prepare or clean up! We sat and ate while discussing school lunches, video games, and dogs. That last subject was quite random.
This afternoon we are tucked in inside playing video games, littlest pet shop and iPad. I feel like I need to soak up every last drop of the kids over the next two weeks. I, for one, am not ready for the school year to start. That's not to say I don't have all the supples assembled and the schedules filled out. I do. But mentally and emotionally I'm not ready for these summers with young kids to be over. Next summer I will have a middle schooler and a preschooler and I can't even let my thoughts go there right now. So, I will wrap this up and spend time crawling around on the floor with a tiny dog figurine in one hand and a game controller in the other while I spend a little more time in denial.
